Ole Miss men’s tennis coach Jake Jacoby earns first career double-header victory

OXFORD, Miss. — Jake Jacoby guided the Ole Miss men’s tennis team to a pair of victories Friday, marking his first double-header as head coach. The Rebels opened their spring season with wins over UAB and North Alabama at the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center.

In the first match, Ole Miss defeated UAB 6-1. The Rebels secured the doubles point early, with the No. 11 duo of Isac Strömberg and Kai Milburn winning 6-3. Matthieu Chambonniere and Benjamin Martin also clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory.

In singles, Noah Schlagenhauf won convincingly, 6-0, 6-3, for the Rebels’ first point. Freshman Vlado Jankanj debuted with a 6-2, 6-2 win, and Strömberg sealed the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory on court five. Benjamin Martin and Chambonniere added wins to complete the team’s dominant performance.

Later in the day, Ole Miss defeated North Alabama 7-0. The Rebels again took the doubles point with Strömberg and Milburn winning 6-1. Singles victories from Martin, Chambonniere, Pampanin, Jankanj, and D’Agostino secured the sweep, with Pampanin clinching the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win.

The team is set to host Furman for a doubleheader Saturday, with the first match scheduled at 11 a.m. Central Time.
