Ole Miss men’s basketball falls to Texas A&M on the road, 80-77
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Ole Miss men’s basketball dropped an 80-77 decision to Texas A&M on Wednesday night at Reed Arena. The Rebels led for much of the game but couldn’t close out the Aggies in the final minutes, according to the school’s release.
Ole Miss (11-15, 3-10 SEC) traded baskets with Texas A&M (18-8, 8-5 SEC) early on. The Rebels took an early lead, with Malik Dia scoring 10 points in the first half, helping them to a 38-33 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, Ole Miss pushed the lead to 58-48 after Patton Pinkins hit a three-pointer. AJ Storr heated up, scoring 10 points in the first 7 minutes of the second half, including a deep three that extended the lead to 58-48 with about 12 minutes remaining.
Down the stretch, Texas A&M mounted a comeback. After Ole Miss led 77-71, the Aggies scored seven straight points, including a three-pointer and a crucial layup, to take the lead with less than a minute remaining. Storr missed a key shot, and Texas A&M converted on an and-one to secure the win.
Storr finished with 21 points, while Dia added 20. Ilias Kamardine contributed 12 points, and Patton Pinkins scored 11. Ole Miss will face No. 11 Florida on Saturday at the SJB Pavilion, with tipoff scheduled for 11 a.m., broadcast on ESPN, according to the school’s athletics department.
Ole Miss shot 52.7% from the field, their best in SEC play this season. The Rebels also had 23 rebounds and 8 steals in the game, but came up short in the final moments, according to the release.
