Ole Miss Guard Cotie McMahon Named to Naismith Trophy Late-Season Watch List

ATLANTA — Ole Miss women’s basketball player Cotie McMahon has been named to the 2026 Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Late-Season Team, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Tuesday.

McMahon, a Dayton, Ohio, native, has previously been recognized on the preseason and midseason watch lists for the award. This marks the first time she has earned a spot on the late-season team this season, according to the club.

The senior guard has been a standout for Ole Miss, averaging 19.8 points per game over 26 starts. She ranks fourth in the SEC in scoring and is shooting 46.7% from the field. McMahon also averages 5.7 rebounds and leads the team with nearly 30 minutes per game.

Her production has increased during SEC play, where she posts 21.5 points per game and 5.9 rebounds. McMahon has earned SEC Player of the Week honors three times this season, a feat shared with only one other player in the conference. Her consistent scoring has helped Ole Miss average 73.2 points per game.

McMahon is nearing 2,000 career points, sitting just one point shy of the milestone, which has previously been achieved by only four Rebels. Her season includes 15 games with at least 20 points, tying her with Armintie Price for the seventh-most in Rebel history.

The Naismith Awards are administered by the Atlanta Tipoff Club, which has recognized top basketball talent since 1956. Named for Dr. James Naismith, the awards honor outstanding college and high school players and coaches across the United States.
