Ole Miss Freshman Stefano D’Agostino Named SEC Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week

STEFANO D’AGOSTINO OF OLE MISS has been named the SEC Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. The award follows his performance in a 4-3 win against No. 11 Vanderbilt this past weekend.

D’Agostino played a pivotal role in the Rebels’ upset. Trailing 3-0, Ole Miss relied on D’Agostino’s victory over Vanderbilt’s No. 115 Pablo Martinez Gomez. The match went into two tiebreaker sets, with D’Agostino winning both, 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (8-6). It marked his first career-ranked win and his 10th singles victory overall.

The win contributed to Ole Miss’s highest-ranked team victory since 2021. The Rebels improved their record to 14-3 overall and 2-3 in SEC play. Ole Miss is scheduled to continue conference matches this week against No. 22 Florida and No. 14 South Carolina.

Ole Miss head coach Jake Jacoby praised D’Agostino’s performance, noting the significance of his contribution in the team’s victory. The freshman’s effort helped the Rebels secure their first conference win since March 2021 and marked a milestone in his collegiate career.
