Ole Miss’ Cotie McMahon Named to Sporting News All-America Second Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Cotie McMahon of Ole Miss women’s basketball has been named to The Sporting News All-America Second Team, the publication announced Monday. This marks her sixth All-America recognition and her first on the second team, according to TSN.

McMahon, a senior from Dayton, Ohio, also earned honorable mention on the USA TODAY All-American team last week. She has gained multiple national accolades this season, including a spot on the Cheryl Miller Final Five list, the Wooden Award National Ballot, and the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Late-Season Team, among 22 honors overall.

In her lone season at Ole Miss, McMahon has averaged 19.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and three assists per game over 30.5 minutes. She increased her production during SEC play, averaging 21.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 33.4 minutes. McMahon’s 675 total points rank fifth in program history for a single season, and her 19 games with 20 or more points tie her with Bianca Thomas for the second-most such performances in school history.

The Rebels will face 12th-seeded Gonzaga in the NCAA Tournament First Round in Minneapolis on March 20. The game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT and will air on ESPN2.
