Ole Miss’ Cotie McMahon Earns AP Honorable Mention All-America

NEW YORK CITY — Cotie McMahon of Ole Miss women’s basketball was named an AP Honorable Mention All-American, the Associated Press announced Wednesday. This is the eighth All-America honor of her career and her third straight AP Honorable Mention.

McMahon, a senior from Dayton, Ohio, earned four All-America recognitions this season, the most in a single season for her. She also received honors from USA TODAY, The Sporting News, and USBWA, among others.

In addition to her All-America honors, McMahon was named SEC Newcomer of the Year and earned First Team All-SEC honors. During her lone season at Ole Miss, she averaged 19.9 points on 45.1% shooting, along with 5.3 rebounds and three assists per game in 30.5 minutes.

She raised her performance in SEC play, averaging 21.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 33.4 minutes. McMahon has scored 675 points this season, the fifth-most by a Rebel in a single season. She also has 19 games with 20 or more points, tying a program record set by Bianca Thomas in 2009-10.

McMahon and Ole Miss, seeded fifth, will face 12th-seeded Gonzaga in Minneapolis for the NCAA Tournament First Round on Friday, March 20, at 2:30 p.m. CT, on ESPN2.
