Ole Miss Baseball Sweeps Nevada in Season Opener Series
Oxford, Miss. — Ole Miss baseball secured a commanding 13-2 victory over Nevada on Sunday at Swayze Field, completing a series sweep to start the season 3-0, according to school officials.
In the series finale, Collin Reuter led the Rebels at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. It marked his third career three-hit game, last achieved on April 6, 2024, when he played for his previous school. On the mound, Wil Libbert earned his first start as a Rebel, pitching five innings, striking out seven batters, and allowing only two earned runs. He recorded his first win for Ole Miss.
The Rebels’ pitching staff combined for 35 strikeouts over the weekend with just four earned runs allowed. Offensively, Ole Miss hit five home runs in the series and totaled 12 extra-base hits. They also drew 22 walks, 13 of those in the final game, helping them build an early lead and maintain control throughout.
Ole Miss jumped to an early 5-0 lead in the first inning, sparked by Judd Utermark’s double and a single from Will Furniss that drove in two runs. Daniel Pacella then hit the longest home run of the weekend, a 447-foot shot for two RBIs. The Rebels continued to extend their lead with strong plate discipline and timely hitting, including Reuter’s three-RBI single in the fifth inning.
Relievers Patrick Collopy and Landon Waters closed out the game, with Waters allowing only a double but no runs to seal the victory. Ole Miss will host Arkansas State on Tuesday at 4 p.m. CT for its next game, streaming on SECN+.
