Ole Miss Baseball Drops Second Game to No. 2 Texas in Austin

Texas defeated Ole Miss 11-2 Saturday afternoon in Austin, marking the second game of their series. The Rebels scored two runs on seven hits but were unable to keep pace with the Longhorns’ offensive onslaught, according to the box score.

Ole Miss pitcher gave up a season-high 11 runs and recorded only two strikeouts, the team said. The Rebels’ offense was 0-for-18 with runners on base and 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position, the box score indicated.

Texas scored two runs in the first inning on an RBI single and an obstruction call. Ole Miss responded in the third, with Hayden Federico scoring from third on a wild pitch and Will Furniss driving in a run with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 2-2.

However, the Longhorns then scored nine unanswered runs, posting multiple runs in the sixth and seventh innings. The teams will face off in the series finale Sunday at 1 p.m. in Austin, according to the schedule.
