Northwest Mississippi’s Alorian Story Named NJCAA Division I All-American
Senatobia, Miss. — Alorian Story has been named an NJCAA Division I All-American, marking the first time since the 2004-05 season that Northwest Mississippi Community College women’s basketball has earned this honor. The sophomore forward from Ripley, Mississippi, received the award after a standout 2025-26 season.
Head coach LaTaryl Williams expressed pride in her player, saying, “I’m excited and extremely proud of Alorian. When we recruited her, we talked about her being an All-American and winning championships at Northwest. She has been consistently good all season, and her earning this award is no surprise.”
Story averaged 16.1 points and 13.4 rebounds per game, ranking fourth nationally in rebounds. She also blocked 27 shots and made 100 free throws on 67.1% shooting. Her field goal percentage for the season was 51%. She recorded 25 double-doubles, including a streak of 13 straight from Nov. 19 to Feb. 14.
This is the first NJCAA All-American selection for the Northwest women’s team since Mikita Taylor in 2004-05. Story joins a select list of just eight players from the school to earn the honor, which also includes Danada Smith, Chatica Hathaway, Rhonda ‘KK’ Mikes, LaConger Cohran, Deborah Benson, Mary Douglas, and Sandra Newborn. The last All-American from Northwest was Sara Lytle, named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association team in 2015-16.
