No. 4 Mississippi State routs Lipscomb 26-0 with one-hitter
Mississippi State’s baseball team delivered one of its most dominant performances in program history Saturday morning, defeating Lipscomb 26-0 at Dudy Noble Field. The Bulldogs scored the most runs since their 27-4 win over Alcorn State in 2010 and posted their largest margin of victory since a 29-0 shutout of Mississippi Valley State in 1999, according to team records.
MSU’s offense was prolific, tallying 20 hits and scoring in five consecutive innings before ending the game after seven innings due to the run rule. The Bulldogs jumped ahead early, with Noah Sullivan launching a two-run homer in the first inning. They expanded their lead significantly with a 12-run third inning, featuring Sullivan’s second home run of the day and a two-run single from Ryder Woodson.
Kevin Milewski and Gehrig Frei added home runs later in the game, and MSU’s offense was efficient, leaving only four runners on base. Sullivan led the charge with a 3-for-4 effort, two home runs, and six RBIs. Wyers went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Reese and Parker also contributed multiple hits and RBIs for the Bulldogs.
On the mound, Duke Stone pitched four perfect innings with six strikeouts to earn the win and improve to 3-0. Charlie Foster allowed Lipscomb’s only hit in the fifth inning. Dane Burns and Parker Rhodes finished the game with three scoreless innings combined, sealing the one-hitter. Lipscomb, with a 6-8 record, struck out 10 times against the Bulldogs’ pitching staff.
Mississippi State (14-2) now prepares for a midweek game against Tulane in Biloxi. The game is scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. and will be streamed on SEC Network+. Fans can follow updates via the team’s social media accounts or visit HailState.com for more information.
