No. 25 Ole Miss Baseball Runs-Rule Alcorn State 11-1 at Swayze Field

Ole Miss defeated Alcorn State 11-1 in a run-rule game Tuesday night at Swayze Field. The Rebels improved to 23-11, while the Braves fell to 7-26.

Ole Miss scored four runs in the second inning and added one more in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth. The Rebels closed out the game with three runs in the seventh, all on bases-loaded walks. The game was called after seven innings due to the run rule.

Dom Decker led Ole Miss at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Owen Paino contributed three RBIs. On the mound, starter Grayson Gibson pitched two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out four. Relief pitcher Leo Odom earned the win, his first of the season.

Alcorn State’s Yoni Castro took the loss, allowing four runs on two hits in two innings. The Braves struggled with walks, issuing six in the game. Despite the loss, Clayvonjae Wright hit a solo home run for Alcorn State, his first of the season.

Ole Miss is set to host LSU in a Southeastern Conference series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m., with the team aiming to extend its winning streak and improve its conference record.
