No. 15 Jones edges Holmes in MACCC showdown
GOODMAN, Miss. — The 15th-ranked Jones Bobcats beat Holmes 79-68 Thursday night at Frank Branch Coliseum in a top-two MACCC matchup. Jones improved to 17-5 overall and 6-0 in conference play, maintaining a two-game lead over Holmes, which fell to 14-4, 3-2.
The Bobcats have won 19 straight MACCC contests. They trailed 38-35 at halftime but outscored Holmes by 14 points after the break. The lead was six with under two minutes remaining before a late spurt and a technical foul called on Holmes pushed the final margin to 11.
Dylan Rowe led Jones with a career-high 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting and added eight assists. Jay Tyler, a recent Louisiana Tech commit, scored 18 points, while Wesley Lindsey added 13 for the Bobcats. Holmes’ bench contributed 43 of the team’s 68 points.
