New Orleans beats Jackson State 7-0 in non-conference game
Jackson State fell to New Orleans 7-0 in a non-conference game Tuesday night at Braddy Field. The Tigers, who are 12-14 this season, managed only six hits in the loss.
Wilbert Perez led Jackson State with a 2-for-4 performance. Hederick Torres reached base twice on walks. Trae Burton took the loss in relief, allowing one run on one hit in one inning. Starter Manuel Toro pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.
New Orleans scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning, fueled by Eli Tidwell’s triple and multiple errors by Jackson State. The Privateers added to their lead with unearned runs, finishing with seven runs on 11 hits.
Jackson State will travel to Florida for a three-game series against Bethune-Cookman starting Friday night. The Tigers will look to rebound in their upcoming games, according to team sources.
