Mississippi Valley State Women’s Basketball Ends Season with Win Over Jackson State

JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University’s women’s basketball team closed out the regular season with a 66-50 win over Jackson State on Saturday at the Lee E. Williams Athletics & Assembly Center.

The Devilettes outscored the Tigers 22-10 in the third quarter, giving them a decisive lead that they maintained through the final whistle. Mississippi Valley finished the season with a 7-22 record overall and a 6-12 mark in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. Jackson State ended with a 12-18 record, 10-8 in the conference.

Mississippi Valley’s Kylah McCullers led all scorers with a career-high 19 points, going 8-for-15 from the field. She also contributed five rebounds and two assists. Nairobi Lewis added 11 points, five rebounds, and a blocked shot. Sydnei Marshall scored 10 points, while Jaeda Murphy finished with nine.

Ariel Jefferson was active on both ends, grabbing a team-high eight rebounds and scoring seven points. The Devilettes are set to enter the SWAC Tournament’s first round, aiming for their second consecutive postseason win, with games scheduled for either 11:30 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
