Mississippi Valley State Softball Set to Face Alabama State in Home Opening Series

ITTA BENA, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University softball welcomes Alabama State for its SWAC and home opening series of 2026. The three-game set will take place Thursday and Friday, with games scheduled at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday and a 3 p.m. game on Friday.

The series was originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday but has been moved earlier. Alabama State enters the series with a 6-16 record, while Mississippi Valley State is 1-8. Both teams are starting conference play with an 0-0 record, according to the schools.

Historically, Alabama State leads the series 71-46, with the Hornets winning the last meeting on April 5, 2025, at the MVSU Softball Field in Itta Bena. Alabama State has won 15 consecutive games against the Devilettes, whose last victory came on April 9, 2022, with a 4-3 win.
