Mississippi Valley State Softball Set for HBCU Celebration Classic in Montgomery
The Mississippi Valley State University softball team will participate in the HBCU Celebration Classic from February 20 to 22 in Montgomery, Alabama. The team’s brief non-conference schedule features five matchups over three days at various locations in the city.
The Diamond Devilettes will face Alcorn State on Feb. 20 at 11:30 a.m., followed by a game against Grambling State at 4:30 p.m. On Feb. 21, they will play Miles at 9 a.m. and Bluefield State at 2 p.m. Their final game is scheduled for Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. against Lincoln University of Pennsylvania.
All games will be held at different venues in Montgomery, including Lagoon Park and the Barbara Williams Complex. The matchups against Grambling State and Lincoln will be available via live stats, with links provided by event organizers. Tickets can be purchased online through a fundraising link.
Mississippi Valley State enters the tournament with a 0-4 record. The team’s last victory was on March 19, 2025, against Alcorn State. Historically, the Devilettes lead the series against Alcorn State 69-41 and have a slight edge over Grambling State, 31-28. They also hold undefeated records against Miles and Bluefield State.
Alcorn State holds a 4-4 record this season, while Grambling State is 2-6. Miles is at 5-7, and Bluefield State is 0-2. The teams have met in recent seasons, with Mississippi Valley’s last win over Alcorn coming in 2025. The Devilettes’ last victory against Grambling was in 2021.
