Mississippi Valley State Softball Falls to Tennessee-Martin in Season Opener
Martin, Tennessee — The Mississippi Valley State University softball team lost its season opener to Tennessee-Martin on Thursday at Bettye Giles Field. The Skyhawks won 7-0, with the Devilettes managing five total hits.
Mississippi Valley State’s best offensive effort came from Madison Wesley, who went 2-for-3 with two singles. Sheridan Kynard also contributed a single, and Kelsey Kaluna-Thomas and Hailey Akers drew walks, according to the game summary.
The Devilettes, now 0-4 overall, will play two more non-conference games Friday at the HBCU Celebration Classic, hosted by Alabama State. They are scheduled to face Alcorn State at 11:30 a.m. and Grambling State at 4:30 p.m.
