Mississippi Valley State Softball Draws 10 Walks in Doubleheader Losses to Arkansas-Pine Bluff
ITTA BENA, Miss. — The Mississippi Valley State University softball team drew 10 walks in a doubleheader against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Wednesday, despite losing both games in five innings. The Diamond Devils fell 10-1 in the first game and 11-3 in the second, according to box scores.
Mississippi Valley State (1-16, 0-6 SWAC) struggled offensively but demonstrated patience at the plate. In the first game, Michelle Diaz recorded the team’s only hit, a single, and scored on a wild pitch. Devyn Dotson drew a walk, stole a base, and scored. Taniya Partee, Ashtyn Clark, and Kelsey Kaluna-Thomas each drew walks, while Madison Wesley advanced to second base.
In the second game, Diaz led the offense again, bringing home a run on a bases-loaded walk and drawing another walk. Partee contributed an RBI with a groundout and had a hit. Sheridan Kynard and Dotson also singled and scored, with Dotson earning a walk. Taylor Fuller and Jamiyah Gary added walks, with Fuller scoring on a walk and Gary also tallying a walk.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (8-13, 2-2 SWAC) remains on a four-game winning streak. The teams have a series history with the Golden Lions leading 25-14 overall. The Diamond Devils’ last victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff occurred on Feb. 24, 2024, during the Capital City Classic.
