Mississippi Valley State Baseball Falls to UNC Asheville in Jackson
The Mississippi Valley State University baseball team suffered a 13-1 loss to UNC Asheville in the opening game of the Jackson State Round Robin on Friday at Braddy Field in Jackson, Mississippi.
The Diamond Devils, now 0-7 this season, struggled offensively against the Bulldogs, who improved to 3-6. Mississippi Valley’s lone run came on a groundout by Eric Williams, who also singled in the game. Cody Leming was the only player to reach base more than once, drawing two walks in three plate appearances.
Gabe Huelsing contributed a double and scored the team’s only run. Williams, Israel Ramos, and Kendall Brookins each recorded hits. On the mound, Gage Deutsch finished the game by retiring the final two Bulldog batters in order. Stephen Landaz and Tanner Aoki drew bases on balls, contributing to the team’s offensive efforts.
