Mississippi State’s Valincius and Parker Earn Midseason Baseball Honors

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State baseball players Tomas Valincius and Jacob Parker earned midseason honors from Perfect Game, the school announced Wednesday. Valincius was named a first-team Midseason All-American, while Parker was selected to the second team for Freshmen.

Both Bulldogs have performed well since Southeastern Conference play began. Valincius, a sophomore left-hander, is 6-0 with a 0.91 ERA in seven starts, striking out 56 and walking 11 over 39 2/3 innings. He has held opponents to a .173 batting average overall and is 3-0 with a perfect ERA in SEC play, with 30 strikeouts and five walks across 19 innings, allowing opponents only a .109 average.

Parker, an outfielder from Purvis, has appeared in 21 games with 14 starts this spring. He is batting .333 with three doubles, six home runs, 21 RBIs, and a perfect 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts. In SEC games, he is batting .389 with two homers, four RBIs, and one steal in seven games (six starts).

Additionally, Valincius was named to Baseball America’s Midseason Pitcher of the Year Watch List. The fourth-ranked Bulldogs will host No. 5 Georgia on Thursday at 6 p.m. for a three-game series, broadcast on SEC Network+.
