Mississippi State’s Thessy Ntondele Zinga Named SEC Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Week
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State freshman Thessy Ntondele Zinga has been named the SEC Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Week, according to the league office.
Her award follows a strong debut weekend during the Bulldogs’ season-opening doubleheader at the Rula Tennis Pavilion. The French native posted a 4-0 record in her first collegiate dual matches, helping Mississippi State secure victories against UAB and Samford.
Ntondele Zinga played a crucial role in the doubles matches, teaming with Emma Cohen and Chiara Di Genova to earn the doubles point in each contest. Her performance in singles was equally impressive. She defeated UAB’s No. 3 player, 6-1, 6-4, for her first collegiate singles win.
Later that day, the freshman dominated at the No. 1 spot against Samford, winning each set while holding her opponent to just one game. The accolade marks her first SEC weekly honor and highlights her promising start for the Bulldogs as they continue non-conference play.
