Mississippi State’s Matt Roberts Sets Record as Men’s Tennis Coach
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State men’s tennis coach Matt Roberts became the program’s all-time winningest coach Saturday, surpassing 220 victories with a win over Vanderbilt. The milestone marks a significant achievement in Roberts’ more than a decade at the helm, where he has consistently built a nationally competitive team.
Since taking over in 2012, Roberts has led the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament every season in which the tournament was held, excluding 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership, MSU advanced to the Round of 16 or beyond in all but one season since 2018. His success is credited to a focus on culture, mental resilience, and team unity, rather than just on-court performance.
