Mississippi State Women’s Tennis Rises to No. 33 in ITA Rankings
STARKVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi State women’s tennis team improved to No. 33 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, marking a significant jump from previous positions, according to the ITA.
The Bulldogs have two doubles pairs ranked nationally. Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz and Gianna Oboniye are ranked No. 18, while Kempenaers-Pocz and Chiara Di Genova are ranked No. 71 in this week’s doubles rankings. Kempenaers-Pocz and Oboniye have been ranked in every poll since the final fall rankings on Nov. 25, and they have been inside the top 15 in three consecutive ITA rankings.
The team’s movement in the rankings reflects steady progress this season. The Bulldogs previously held the No. 37 spot and have now moved up to No. 33. Kempenaers-Pocz and Di Genova were ranked No. 54 in the preseason rankings released in August 2025.
Mississippi State is set to face its first SEC road challenge of the season Thursday, March 5, in College Station at 5 p.m. The Bulldogs will then travel to Austin to compete against Texas on Saturday, March 7, at noon.
