Mississippi State Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 1 Georgia in Regular Season Finale

ATHENS, Ga. — Mississippi State women’s tennis concluded its regular season with a 4-0 loss to No. 1 Georgia on Saturday afternoon, according to athletic department reports.

The Bulldogs dropped the doubles point after losing on courts two and three, giving Georgia an early lead. Georgia’s team secured the point with wins on courts two and three, before clinching the match in singles play with straight-set victories on courts three and four. A retirement on court one also contributed to Georgia’s victory, according to the match results.

In singles, Chiara Di Genova retired on court one with the match tied at 4-3. Aysegul Mert and Anastasiia Gureva earned victories for Georgia on courts two and three, sealing the win for the Bulldogs. The match concluded with Georgia winning on courts four, five, and six as well.

The upcoming SEC Women’s Tennis Championship is scheduled for April 15-19 in Norman, Oklahoma. Mississippi State will prepare for the tournament following this regular season finale, the department said.
