Mississippi State Women’s Golf Finishes Day Two in Second at UCF Challenge
ORLANDO, Fla. — Mississippi State women’s golf finished the second day of the UCF Challenge in second place, 1 stroke behind Auburn, according to the tournament’s live scoring. The Bulldogs shot a combined score of 23-under par after over two and a half rounds of play.
Avery Weed led the individual competition, carding a bogey-free 4-under par in the second round to reach 10-under overall. She was 6-under after the second round and was 4-under through 14 holes in the final round, holding a one-stroke lead over Auburn’s Katie Cranston with three holes remaining.
Other Bulldogs performed well, with Ines Belchior tied for seventh at 7-under par after back-to-back rounds under par. She was 1-under in the final round with three holes left. Moa Stridh was tied for 11th at 5-under, and Samantha Whateley was tied for 18th, both with three holes remaining in the third round. Izzy Pellot was also making a strong push, shooting 1-under par in her final round with three holes remaining.
The tournament shifted to an 8 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday morning due to expected cold weather, with teams returning at 10 a.m. CT to complete the third round. Live scoring is available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
In team standings, Auburn led with a score of 24-under par, followed by Mississippi State at 23-under. UCF was third at 16-under, with Baylor and Penn State rounding out the top five.
