Mississippi State tops Southern Miss in seven-inning game, 12-0

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State, ranked sixth nationally, scored in each of the first five innings to beat Southern Miss 12-0 in a seven-inning game Tuesday evening at Dudy Noble Field. The Bulldogs improved to 21-4, evening the season series with the Golden Eagles, who fell to 19-6.

The Bulldogs scored three runs in the first inning and added a solo run in the second. They exploded for five runs in the third and scored one in the fourth and two in the fifth to wrap up the run-rule victory before a crowd of 12,887.

Southern Miss’s offense was limited to seven hits, with Joey Urban and Davis Gillespie each collecting two singles. Gray Eubanks and Gillespie doubled for the Golden Eagles. Starting pitcher Thomas Crabtree allowed three runs on three hits in less than a third of an inning and took the loss. Reliever Jack Bauer earned the win after retiring all four batters faced, with a strikeout.

Aidan Teel led Mississippi State with three singles and a two-run homer, his third of the season. Jacob Parker hit a three-run homer and finished with three RBIs. Several Bulldogs, including Teel and Ryder Woodson, drove in at least two runs. Teel also scored four times, leading the team in runs.

Southern Miss will host Appalachian State this weekend in a Sun Belt Conference series beginning Friday at Pete Taylor Park. The Golden Eagles aim to rebound after their first shutout loss since April 2025, according to team records.
