Mississippi State to Host Auburn in Key SEC Matchup

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State men’s basketball is set to host Auburn on Wednesday evening at Humphrey Coliseum, as the Bulldogs enter the final third of their SEC schedule. The game is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. Central Time and will be broadcast on ESPN2, with live stats available via Stat Broadcast.

Mississippi State holds a 12-13 record overall and a 4-8 mark in SEC play. The Bulldogs are led by guards Josh Hubbard and Jayden Epps, who have combined to average 35.7 points per game. This scoring duo is the program’s top since the 1982-83 season, when Jeff Malone and Terry Lewis averaged 42.0 points per game.

Auburn enters the game with a 14-11 record and a 5-7 SEC record. The Tigers have lost four straight games after winning four consecutive outings. Key players include Keyshawn Hall, Tahaad Pettiford, Kevin Overton, and KeShawn Murphy, all of whom have posted double-figure scoring averages. Hall, who missed Auburn’s last game due to injury, has recorded three 30-plus point performances in SEC play this season.

Mississippi State has secured three consecutive NCAA Tournament bids, the third time in program history this has occurred. The Bulldogs last achieved this streak in 2002-03, 2003-04, and 2004-05. The team is one of only seven SEC programs with an active streak of at least three NCAA Tournament appearances, and among 25 nationally.

The game marks a rivalry where Auburn has dominated the series recently, winning four of the last five meetings since 2016-17. However, Mississippi State defeated a top-10 Auburn team 64-58 during Coach Chris Jans’ first season at Humphrey Coliseum. Fans can purchase tickets for remaining home games through the Mississippi State Athletic Ticket Office or online. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 with commentary from Kevin Fitzgerald and Rodney Terry.
