Mississippi State Sweeps Vanderbilt With 17-7 Win

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State capped a series sweep of Vanderbilt with a 17-7 victory Sunday at Dudy Noble Field. The Bulldogs scored early and often, breaking open the game with a six-run first inning that set the tone for the win, according to the school.

MSU’s offensive explosion included four hits in the opening frame and was fueled by Kevin Milewski’s three-run homer. The Bulldogs added two runs in the second and broke the game open with four more in the third, showcasing depth and power throughout the lineup.

Reed Stallman led the Bulldogs with a 4-for-5 performance, knocking in four RBIs and hitting a homer and two doubles. Noah Sullivan went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, while Bryce Chance contributed four hits and three RBIs, including a walk-off single in the seventh. Ryder Woodson and Ace Reese also homered for the Bulldogs.

Vanderbilt briefly rallied with three solo home runs in the second inning but could not overcome the early deficit. On the mound, starter Duke Stone earned his fourth win of the season, working four innings and limiting damage despite six runs allowed. Relief pitchers Charlie Foster and Tyler Pitzer finished the game, with Pitzer tossing 1 1/3 scoreless innings to secure the victory.

Mississippi State will host No. 12 Southern Miss on Tuesday at 6 p.m., with coverage on SEC Network+. The Bulldogs improved to 20-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while Vanderbilt fell to 13-12 and 2-4 in the SEC, according to the schools.
