Mississippi State Routs Delaware 10-0 in Eight Innings

STARKVILLE, Miss. — The fourth-ranked Mississippi State baseball team extended its unbeaten streak to start the season, defeating Delaware 10-0 in eight innings Saturday at Dudy Noble Field, before a crowd of 13,194.

The Bulldogs scored early and often, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning and adding a two-run fourth and a three-run fifth. Blake Bevis ended the game with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth. Mississippi State finished with 13 hits and scored in five different innings to secure the shutout win.

Jacob Parker hit his first career home run, a two-run shot in the fourth. Reed Stallman added a solo homer in the fifth, and Noah Sullivan connected on a three-run homer in the sixth. The team totaled seven extra-base hits, with Ryder Woodson, Gehrig Frei, Parker, and Bryce Chance each recording two hits. Sullivan, Woodson, Frei, Parker, and Chance each had two hits overall.

On the mound, sophomore Tomas Valincius earned his second win, tossing six scoreless innings, allowing five hits, striking out seven and walking two. Valincius threw 89 pitches, 53 for strikes, and kept Delaware off the board despite scattered traffic. Brendan Sweeney finished with two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out one to preserve the shutout.

Mississippi State will attempt to sweep the series Sunday at 11 a.m. on SEC Network+. The Bulldogs plan to send sophomore Charlie Foster to the mound against Delaware’s Elias Conway.
