Mississippi State Relief Pitchers Davis and Webb Named to Stopper of the Year Watch List
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State pitchers Ben Davis and Maddox Webb have been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s Stopper of the Year watch list, the organization announced Tuesday.
Davis, a right-hander from Booneville, made 23 appearances last season, including four starts, in his first year with the Bulldogs. He posted a 4-2 record, one save, a 3.77 ERA, and 61 strikeouts over 57 1/3 innings. Opponents hit .236 against him, according to MSU athletics.
Webb, a junior transfer from The Citadel, was a first-team All-SoCon selection in 2025. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound pitcher from Summerville, South Carolina, appeared in 24 games with one start. He finished 4-1 with five saves, a 4.04 ERA and 61 strikeouts over 55 2/3 innings. Webb’s performance earned him national recognition and adds to MSU’s history of finalists for the award, including Jonathan Holder in 2013, Jacob Lindgren in 2014, and Landon Sims in 2021.
The Bulldogs open their season this weekend by hosting Hofstra in a three-game series beginning Friday at 4 p.m. Fans and followers can stay updated through MSU’s official website and social media channels, including X, Facebook, and Instagram under the handle ‘HailStateBB.’
