Mississippi State University has a long history of developing professional baseball talent. In 2026, 40 alumni are competing across Major League Baseball, Triple-A, Double-A, and lower levels, according to a university spokesperson.
Among those in the majors are All-Stars Adam Frazier, Brent Rooker, Jordan Westburg, Brandon Woodruff, and World Series champion Nathaniel Lowe. Rooker, Westburg, and Woodruff are two-time All-Stars. MSU has had 20 first-round draft picks, including Rooker, Westburg, Justin Foscue, Will Bednar, Landon Sims, and Jurrangelo Cijntje, highlighting the program’s success.
Frazier signed a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Angels and made the opening day roster. Rooker is with the Oakland Athletics, hitting a go-ahead RBI single in March. Lowe, with Cincinnati, recorded an RBI double in April. Westburg remains on the injured list with an elbow sprain, while Woodruff, with Milwaukee, earned a win in his season debut.
