Mississippi State Falls to No. 23 Alabama in Close Women’s Basketball Game

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State women’s basketball fell to No. 23 Alabama 85-78 Sunday in Tuscaloosa. The game was a back-and-forth affair with 18 lead changes and 10 tied scores, according to the school.

Alabama pulled away in the final minutes, regaining the lead with four minutes remaining and extending their advantage to secure the victory. Favour Nwaedozi led the Bulldogs with 19 points, shooting 6-for-11 and making seven of eight free throws. She also grabbed seven rebounds.

Madison Francis added 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds. She also recorded a season-high seven steals, the most by a Bulldog this year. Jaylah Lampley contributed 14 points off the bench, shooting 67% from the floor and hitting half her three-point attempts. Trayanna Crisp scored 11 points, going perfect from the free-throw line in her eighth double-figure game of the season.

Mississippi State (15-6, 2-5 SEC) will travel to Knoxville to face the 17th-ranked Tennessee Lady Volunteers on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+.

Alabama improved to 18-3 overall and 4-3 in SEC play. The Crimson Tide shot 52% from the field and 62% from three-point range, while the Bulldogs shot 45% overall and 25% beyond the arc.
