Mississippi State beats Ole Miss 90-78 at Oxford
OXFORD, Miss. — The Ole Miss men’s basketball team lost to Mississippi State 90-78 Saturday at the SJB Pavilion. The Bulldogs (12-13, 4-8 SEC) jumped out to an early lead and maintained it throughout the game.
Mississippi State opened the first half with a 13-3 run and led 62-45 at halftime. Despite shooting over 50% in the second half, Ole Miss (11-14, 3-9 SEC) could not catch up. The Rebels helped themselves by committing only six turnovers, their 16th game with 10 or fewer turnovers this season, according to team stats.
Malik Dia scored 32 points, tying his career high and setting a personal best at Ole Miss. AJ Storr contributed 21 points and tied his career high in assists with five. The Rebels will travel to Texas A&M on Wednesday for their next game, which will be televised on the SEC Network.
The game featured strong performances on both sides, but Ole Miss was unable to overcome the Bulldogs’ shooting efficiency, which included a 62.1% field goal percentage in the first half. Ole Miss shot 41.5% overall and 30.8% from three-point range.
