Mississippi State Baseball Players Earn Multiple Preseason Honors
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Three Mississippi State baseball players earned preseason national honors, one week before the season opener. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named designated hitter Noah Sullivan a first-team All-American, while third baseman Ace Reese received second-team honors and outfielder Aidan Teel was placed on the fourth team, according to school officials.
Reese was also added to the Golden Spikes Award watch list Friday. The award is given annually to college baseball’s top player. Will Clark won the award as a Mississippi State player in 1985.
Sullivan, a graduate from Orlando, Florida, started all 59 games last season as a designated hitter and pitcher. He batted .345 with 70 hits, 16 doubles, 15 home runs and 46 RBIs. Sullivan ranked third in the Southeastern Conference with a .475 on-base percentage and had a streak of reaching base in 33 consecutive games.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound right-hander posted a 1.96 ERA in seven midweek starts, striking out 15 and walking three in 18 1/3 innings. This marks Sullivan’s fourth preseason All-America honor heading into 2026.
Ace Reese, a sophomore, has also received multiple preseason honors. He was a first-team selection by Baseball America and Perfect Game, and second team by D1Baseball. Last season, Reese started 57 games, leading MSU with a .352 batting average, 80 hits, 18 doubles, 21 home runs, 66 RBIs, 163 total bases and a .718 slugging percentage.
Reese also posted 25 multi-hit games, 20 multi-RBI games and five multi-homer games as a sophomore. Outfielder Aidan Teel, a redshirt junior, started all 50 games for Virginia last season. He hit .317 with 59 hits, 20 doubles, seven home runs and 40 RBIs. Teel scored 51 runs, had two walk-off hits and maintained a perfect fielding percentage with five outfield assists.
The trio will open the season against Hofstra in a three-game series scheduled for Feb. 13-15. Fans are encouraged to visit www.HailState.com for updates and follow the program on social media under the handle ‘HailStateBB.’
