Mississippi Mud Monsters to Host MLB HBCU Power Series at Trustmark Park
The Mississippi Mud Monsters have been selected to host the MLB HBCU Power Series, a multi-day baseball event featuring historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The event will take place from Feb. 12 to 15 at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi.
The showcase will include six HBCU teams: Texas Southern University, Prairie View A&M University, Alabama A&M University, Grambling State University, Jackson State University, and Alcorn State University. The event will feature three days of games from Feb. 13 to 15, with three scheduled game slots each day. All contests will be nine innings with a 10-run rule, creating a competitive yet fan-friendly environment.
The event kicks off on Feb. 12 with a non-game day dedicated to team workouts, media appearances, and festivities highlighting HBCU pride and culture. The series aims to celebrate tradition, community, and high-level collegiate baseball in a professional setting.
The Mississippi Mud Monsters, part of the Frontier League — an MLB Partner League — was chosen for hosting duties because of Trustmark Park’s facilities, the team’s event experience, and its commitment to inclusive, community-oriented baseball. Andrew Seymour, the team’s general manager, called the honor significant for both the organization and the community.
Ticket prices are set to be accessible, with $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 14 and under, and free admission for students with valid student IDs from participating schools. Fans can expect a weekend rich in school spirit, regional matchups, music, and cultural traditions that elevate HBCU athletics on a national stage. Further details about schedules and activities will be announced later.
