Mississippi College’s Fleming to Join Gulf South Conference Hall of Fame in 2026
Mississippi College’s former football standout Terry Fleming has been selected for induction into the Gulf South Conference Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026, the league announced Monday.
Fleming played for the Choctaws from 1985 to 1989, earning numerous honors including two-time American Football Coaches Association First Team All-American and three-time First Team All-GSC. He received GSC Freshman of the Year honors in 1985 and was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1989.
His performance placed him among the conference’s elite, earning recognition on both the GSC Team of the Decade for the 1980s and the Team of the Quarter Century (1971-95). After college, Fleming continued his football career professionally with the Frankfurt Galaxy of the World League of American Football and the British Columbia Lions in the Canadian Football League. He also signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL after earning his degree in physical education from Mississippi College in 1990.
Fleming is one of five individuals inducted into the 2026 class, alongside Franziska Bremm of West Georgia, Larry Carpenter of Lee, Janet Montgomery of West Alabama, and Shannon Williams of Valdosta State.
GSC Commissioner Matt Wilson praised the class, stating, “The Class of 2026 exemplifies everything the Gulf South Conference stands for—competitive excellence, dedicated leadership and a lifelong commitment to the values of collegiate athletics.” The 2026 class marks the 12th in GSC Hall of Fame history, bringing total inductees to 61. Details of the induction ceremony will be announced later.
