Mississippi College Track Opens Season with School Records, NCAA Marks at MC Spring Classic

CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College kicked off its 2026 outdoor track and field season with standout performances at the MC Spring Classic, held at Robinson-Hale Stadium. The meet featured school records, NCAA provisional marks, and multiple event wins, according to the university.

Freshman Brodie Roberts highlighted the men’s 100 meters with a personal-best 10.29 seconds. The time ranks first in NCAA Division II this season and is third all-time at Mississippi College, the school said. Roberts’s performance also met the NCAA provisional standard, according to officials.

On the women’s side, Taylor Benoit broke the school record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:58.56, marking her personal best. In field events, Matthew Coleman threw the javelin 62.35 meters (204 feet, 7 inches), ranking ninth in Division II and earning an NCAA provisional mark.

The women’s 4×100-meter relay team set a school record with a time of 46.76 seconds. The team included Elyse Dorris, Emily Taylor, Haylei Mason, and Alana Green. Green also swept the sprint events, winning the 100 meters in 11.78 seconds and the 200 meters in 24.24 seconds. Her 100-meter time ranks second all-time at Mississippi College.

Other winners included Ethan Belcher, who cleared 4.40 meters (14 feet, 5¼ inches) to win the men’s pole vault, and Mallory Dial, who won the women’s high jump at 1.61 meters (5 feet, 3¼ inches). On the track, Gabe Hodson took the men’s 800 meters in 1:53.02, while Matias Vasquez finished the men’s 400-meter hurdles in 55.00 seconds. Christian Balcer won the men’s 5,000 meters in 15:04.13.

Women’s distance runner Lauren Wallace clocked 4:41.89 to win the 1,500 meters. Several athletes posted personal bests, including Mason with a 57.48 in the 400 meters, which ranks seventh in school history, and Dorris with an 11.94 in the 100 meters, moving her to fourth all-time at MC.

The meet also honored the 2025 women’s cross country team for capturing the Gulf South Conference Championship last October. Members of the championship squad received rings during a ceremony at Robinson-Hale Stadium, part of the MC Spring Classic festivities.

Mississippi College will continue its outdoor season on March 21, competing next at the Belhaven Invitational, the university announced.
