Millsaps Track and Field Looks to Build on Past Success in 2026 Outdoor Season
The Millsaps College men’s and women’s track and field programs are gearing up for the 2026 outdoor season. The women’s team was ranked seventh in the preseason poll, while the men’s team was projected eighth, according to sources familiar with the rankings.
Leading the women’s roster are senior Eleanor Scott and junior Fiona Selders. Scott, who finished seventh in the triple jump and 14th in the high jump at last indoor season’s Southern Athletic Association (SAA) championships, will be a key sprinter and jumper. Selders placed in the top 5 in the 50-meter dash and finished 11th in the 200 meters at that meet.
The women’s team includes 15 athletes, with experienced sprinters and jumpers such as sophomores Molly Northam and Suzanna Busbee. Northam last competed in April 2025 and finished 11th in the 400 meters, while Busbee placed 27th in the 60-meter dash. Distance runner sophomore Claudia Dempsey, who finished 18th in the 1500 meters and ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in April 2025, is also returning.
In the throwing events, juniors Amari Jackson-Wright and Viv Jordan bring recent indoor experience. Jackson-Wright finished 23rd in the shot put and 29th in the weight throw, while Jordan placed 26th and 27th in those events, respectively. Other throwers include juniors Amelia Bohl and Reese Brasseaux, who finished 11th in the discus and hammer throws last April, and sophomores Geda Brewster and Laken Day, who had top finishes in the hammer and javelin, respectively.
Newcomers to the outdoor roster include freshmen Katie Brown, Sara Grace Hoggatt, and Taylor Sutton, along with senior Taylor Gonzales. Brown, who placed tenth in the high jump indoors, is making her outdoor debut.
On the men’s side, the team features 16 athletes with a fresh look after recruiting efforts. Juniors Greer Hernandez and Carter Davis lead the roster. Hernandez, an honorable mention in the SAA, finished third in the 3,000 meters and fourth in the 5,000 meters at the indoor championships. Davis placed 15th in the hammer throw in April 2025.
Returning athletes include Phillip Antis and Dillon Duley. Antis finished 11th in the 400 meters at last year’s outdoor SAA meet, while Duley placed 26th in the same meet. The team also welcomes several freshmen, including sprinters Nicholas Price and Wyatt Wheeler, middle-distance runner Benjamin Sylve, and thrower Sean Wyers. Price and Wheeler made an impact during indoor season, with Price finishing 23rd in the 200 meters at the UAB Green and Gold Invitational and Wheeler placing 26th in the 400 meters at the SAA Indoor Championships.
Other newcomers include Fluker Jr., who finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles indoors, and Cosgriff, who recorded marks in shot put and weight throw at the same meet. The team’s diverse roster aims to continue Millsaps’ tradition of competitive excellence in track and field.
