Millsaps Tennis Teams Split Weekend Matches with Rhodes and Rust Colleges

The Millsaps College men’s and women’s tennis teams faced tough competition in their opening conference matches over the weekend. On Saturday, the Majors lost to Rhodes College with a 7-0 result, while on Sunday, they bounced back with a 6-1 victory over Rust College for the men. The women’s team tied Rust College 3-3 after falling to Rhodes 7-0.

In Saturday’s match against Rhodes, Millsaps struggled across the board. Notable was Sam Tuli, who won the first set in his singles match and pushed his opponent to a third-set tiebreaker, but ultimately lost. Jon Nguyen also challenged his opponent, winning the second set before falling in a tiebreaker, according to match results.

On Sunday, the men’s team showed resilience, defeating Rust College 6-1. The team secured victories in doubles play with Nguyen and Tuli sweeping their matches and winning five of six singles matches. Anderson Causey was perfect in singles, winning 6-0, 6-0, and several players only dropped a few games.

The women’s team also faced Rhodes on Saturday, losing all matches but managing to take a set from Skylar Spinks in singles. The following day, they tied Rust College 3-3, capturing the doubles point and winning three singles matches, including a three-set battle by Emeline Honfoga.
