Millsaps Men’s Golf Defeats Centenary in Exhibition, Prepares for Spring Season
The Millsaps College men’s golf team defeated Centenary College in an exhibition match at Lake Caroline Golf Club on Wednesday. The Majors finished with a team score of 283, five strokes under par, after one round of stroke play. The Gents scored 313.
Junior Julius Kroell and freshman William Jeonsson each shot 68, tying for first place individually. Freshman transfer Jack Ritter shot an even 72 in his collegiate debut, finishing fifth. Sophomore Miles Harrison added a 75, placing sixth. Senior Steven Noack was seventh with a 77, just two strokes behind Ritter.
The exhibition serves as preparation for both the men’s and women’s golf teams ahead of their season openers at the Space City Classic in Houston, Texas, on March 9-10. The men’s team competed in five fall events, with sophomore Charlie Berglund finishing fourth overall at plus-5 through two rounds and tying for seventh individually. Noack and junior Jason Howe also finished in the top 20 in the fall’s final event.
On the women’s side, sophomore Abigail Cerwick posted a second-place finish at the Roger Lundy Alabama Invasion, finishing with a total of plus-44 after two rounds in her first fall competition. Both teams will compete in additional events before the 2026 Southern Athletic Association Championships at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee, from April 24-26.
Individual results against Centenary showed Kroell and Jeonsson tied for first with 68, followed by Chance Snell at 69. The team leaderboard had Millsaps in first and Centenary in second.
