Millsaps Golf Teams Compete at Goliath Compression Invitational in Texas
FRANKSTON, Texas — Millsaps College’s men’s and women’s golf teams participated in the Goliath Compression Invitational at Pine Dunes Resort & Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday. The event was hosted by LeTourneau University.
On the women’s side, sophomore Abigail Cerwick shot her lowest two-round score of the season, finishing with rounds of 78 and 84 for a total of 162, or 18 over par. She placed 13th overall, just nine strokes behind the leader and six behind second place, on the challenging course. Cerwick’s performance included her lowest individual round of her collegiate career at plus-6.
For the men’s team, Millsaps finished eighth in a competitive field. Senior Steven Noack led the team with a total score of 242, finishing 26 over par after three rounds. Junior Jason Howe was close behind with a total of 243, and sophomores Charlie Berglund and Miles Harrison both finished at 244. Noack’s rounds included scores of 78, 82, and 82.
The men’s team placed in a tight pack, with the other top teams including LeTourneau, Jacksonville (Texas), Lyon, Schreiner, and Nebraska Wesleyan. Millsaps will next compete in the Bill Cochran Invitational in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 13-14, while the women will participate in the Joe & Lee Duncan Invitational in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi, during the same dates.
