Millsaps Golf Opens Spring Season at Space City Classic
The Millsaps College men’s and women’s golf programs started their 2026 spring seasons at the Space City Classic, held at Gus Wortham Golf Course in Houston. The event was hosted by the University of St. Thomas (Texas) on Monday and Tuesday.
For the men’s team, sophomore Charlie Berglund and junior Julius Kroell posted top-25 finishes. Berglund, competing as an individual, tied for 22nd with a score of 222 (+9) after three rounds. Kroell finished 25th with a total of 223 (+10), including a career-best 71 in the final round. Freshman transfer Jack Ritter made his collegiate debut and finished 42nd at 236 (+23). Sophomores Miles Harrison and Noble Burns tied for 44th at 239 (+26), while senior Steven Noack tied for 47th at 246 (+33).
The men’s team finished 10th among 12 teams, with a total score of 936 (+84). No. 13 Southwestern led the field with an 853 (+1), followed by No. 17 Trinity at 856 (+4) and No. 3 Mary Hardin-Baylor at 859 (+7).
On the women’s side, freshman Abigail Cerwick tied for 16th with a score of 168 (+26). She shot rounds of 80 and 88, matching her season low of 80 in the first round. Cerwick’s performance marked her lowest two-round total of the season. She will next compete at the Hal Sutton Invitational in Bossier City, Louisiana, on March 16-17.
The men’s team will return to competition at the Pine Dunes Intercollegiate in Frankston, Texas, on March 30-31.
