Millsaps Baseball Loses Series to No. 16 Trinity in Three Games

The Millsaps College baseball team lost a three-game series against No. 16 Trinity University over the weekend at Trinity Baseball Field in San Antonio, Texas. The Tigers won Game 1 by a score of 23-12, followed by an 8-10 defeat in Game 2, and a 10-0 shutout in Game 3, according to game summaries.

In the series opener Friday, Millsaps’s EJ Ousley and Mason Morgan each hit home runs. Ousley drove in two runs, and Morgan scored three. Senior pitcher Andrew Bradley threw 2.2 innings with three strikeouts. Ousley’s leadoff homer gave Millsaps an early lead, but Trinity responded with six runs in the first inning and maintained a strong lead throughout the game. Morgan’s two-run homer in the third brought the score to 13-5, but Trinity pulled away, extending its lead to 23-12 in the seventh inning.

In Game 2 Saturday, Millsaps made a late rally but fell short. Wesley Grant led the team with three hits, three runs, and two doubles. Mason Morgan scored twice and added two hits, while junior Carston Williams drove in an RBI. Freshman Sam Thomas threw 1.1 innings of no-hit, no-run relief, striking out two. Trinity opened the scoring with two RBI walks in the first inning. The Tigers built a 7-0 lead by the third inning. The Majors responded in the fourth and fifth innings, narrowing the gap to 8-7, but Trinity scored again to secure an 10-8 victory.

The series concluded Sunday with Trinity winning 10-0 in seven innings. Morgan contributed a double in three at-bats, and Grant added a hit in three appearances. Freshman Jackson Woolley pitched 1.1 innings with one strikeout, and sophomore Luke Hamblen threw two innings, striking out three batters. Trinity scored seven runs in the third inning and added two more in the sixth and seventh to finish the game with the shutout.
