Millsaps Baseball Falls to Sewanee in Series Weekend
The Millsaps College baseball team dropped two of three games in a series against Sewanee over the weekend at Montgomery Field in Tennessee. The Tigers took the first game 6-3, won the second 6-5, and secured the series with a 16-5 victory in the third game, according to team sources.
In the opener, senior Andrew Bradley pitched four innings, allowing one run and striking out one batter. Ryan Laiche finished with 1.2 innings on the mound. Freshman Hudson Moberly homered and drove in two runs, while junior Wesley Grant added a double and a run scored. Sewanee took control in the seventh inning with a four-run rally to secure the win.
The second game saw Millsaps rally from an early deficit. Grant led the team with four RBIs, including a home run. Senior Mason Morgan contributed two hits, an RBI, and a run. Junior John Montour earned the win with four innings of work, allowing only two hits and no runs. Millsaps scored late, taking the lead in the seventh inning on key hits and a sacrifice fly, ultimately winning 6-5.
The final game was dominated by Sewanee’s offense, which scored 16 runs. Williams, Morgan, and freshman Christian Kretzer each had two hits for Millsaps. Sewanee erupted for seven runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by three home runs. Despite solo home runs from Williams and Morgan in the seventh, the Majors could not catch up, falling 16-5 to close the series.
