McNeese defeats Jackson State despite Tigers winning doubles point

Jackson, Miss. — Jackson State’s tennis team lost to McNeese State on Saturday despite capturing the doubles point at home. The Tigers won the doubles competition, but the Cowboys took the overall match.

Victoria Linkovski and Helen Hernandez started strong for Jackson State, defeating Stella Rundova and Elena Morales 6-1 at the top doubles position. Tiara Alvarez and Daniela Tovar secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles, according to team sources.

In singles play, Paula Corbalan had the best performance for Jackson State but was unable to secure a victory. Corbalan, a junior, scored four points in her singles match, while teammate Daniela Tovar, a senior, scored three points.
