NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Middle Georgia State women’s basketball fell 87-77 at Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday. The Choctaws (9-16, 8-12 Gulf South Conference) recorded a season-high eight blocks but were out-rebounded 50-36 and made only nine three-pointers, which proved decisive, according to game statistics.

Karly Ivy led MC with 20 points, her second 20-plus point performance of the season. Nia Coleman scored 15 points, extending her streak of at least 15 points to three games and marking her 15th game in double figures this season. Coleman also had a team-high seven assists and eight rebounds. Valencia McFall contributed 13 points and added four blocks, her 12th game of the season with 10 or more points.

The Blue and Gold capitalized on eight first-quarter turnovers by Trevecca, converting them into 13 points, and added 11 fast-break points to stay competitive early. The Trojans held a narrow 45-42 lead at halftime, thanks to a 21-20 second quarter edge. Trevecca created separation in the third quarter, dominating the paint 14-4 and shooting 4-for-16 from the field. The Trojans also capitalized on second-chance opportunities to build a 63-51 lead entering the final period.

In the fourth quarter, MC mounted a late rally, outscoring Trevecca and going 11-for-11 at the free-throw line. Despite the surge, the Trojans’ rebounding edge — including 15 offensive rebounds — helped secure the 10-point victory. Cheyenne Trotter led Trevecca with 30 points and 18 rebounds. Tatum Shaw added 21 points, including three three-pointers, and dished out three assists. Jordan Gillies scored 15 points, with four from beyond the arc, and grabbed eight rebounds.
