Madison Francis Earns Second SEC Freshman of the Week Honor

Mississippi State freshman Madison Francis was named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Tuesday. She is the fourth player to earn multiple SEC Freshman of the Week honors this year and the first Bulldog to do so since the 2021-22 season.

Francis led the Bulldogs to back-to-back SEC victories, averaging 15 points, three blocks, 7.5 rebounds, two assists, and 0.5 steals during the week. She shot 54.5% from the field and 66.7% from three-point range.

She opened the week with a 17-point, eight-rebound effort against Georgia, which recently entered the AP Top 25. Francis shot 58.3% from the floor, made her only three-point attempt, and tallied four blocks—her ninth game with four or more blocks, the most in the nation.

In a road win over Arkansas, she scored 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished three assists, and blocked two shots. Her two blocks led her team, marking her 18th game leading Mississippi State in blocks this season.

Francis tied her career high with three three-pointers at a 60% clip. Four Bulldogs hit three or more threes in that game, the first time in at least 20 seasons that Mississippi State had four players reach that mark in a single game.

She maintains a league-high 2.8 blocks per game, ranking second nationally. Her 74 total blocks rank second in the nation and eighth on Mississippi State’s single-season list, as well as second among Bulldog freshmen.

The Bulldogs return to Humphrey Coliseum on Thursday, February 19, to face Florida. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on SEC Network+.
