Life University edges Blue Mountain Christian in close SSAC battle

Blue Mountain, Miss. — Life University escaped with a 61-57 victory over Blue Mountain Christian in a hard-fought Southern States Athletic Conference game at Tyler Gymnasium.

The game featured numerous lead changes and momentum swings as both teams battled for control. Blue Mountain Christian started strong, attacking with confidence on offense and establishing an early rhythm. The Toppers maintained pressure, trading baskets and defensive stops with the visitors throughout the first half.

Blue Mountain Christian kept pace with Life University, refusing to let the visitors pull away. Defensive intensity helped limit clean looks and kept the score close heading into the final quarter. Maddie Kirk led the Toppers offensively with 17 points and added seven rebounds. Rebecca Walter contributed 13 points and six rebounds, while off the bench, McKenzie Williams scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Isabella Carlson dished out four assists and scored six points.

The host team shot 45.3% from the field and was 85.7% at the free-throw line. Despite a late rally by Blue Mountain Christian, clutch free throws and defensive stops by Life University sealed the four-point win.

Blue Mountain Christian will travel to Nashville on Tuesday to face Welch College.
