Southwest Mississippi Softball completed a perfect 4-0 weekend, sweeping a four-game series against Southern Arkansas University Tech in Camden, Arkansas, on February 27-28, according to team sources.

The Lady Bears opened the series with two run-rule victories, winning 10-0 in both games. Allie Ladnier pitched a complete game in the first, striking out seven without allowing a run. Offensively, Corin Talbot led with four hits, three runs, and four RBIs, including two home runs.

In game two, Ballard Kraft tossed five scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Jana Phillips contributed three hits, including a double and a home run, with two RBIs. Bailey McLin and Corin Talbot each added two hits and two RBIs. Multiple players stole bases, and several scored runs for the Lady Bears.

The third game was a close 7-6 win for Southwest, marked by a comeback in the sixth inning. Kraft and Tye Boone combined to pitch 4.4 innings for the win, and Mary Claire Salley earned the save. Tristan Allen’s home run and three RBIs helped seal the victory after Southwest tied the game in the sixth inning.

The series concluded with another dominant performance, as Southwest won 10-1 in the fourth game. Ladnier pitched five innings, allowing only one run. McLin led at the plate with three hits and three runs scored. Ladnier and Tristan Allen each homered, and Allen and Jana Phillips drove in three RBIs each.

Head coach Shea Johnson praised the team’s resilience and growth. “The team doesn’t panic when they get behind, they just keep fighting,” Johnson said. “This weekend was a great culmination of a great nonconference schedule, and finishing it 14-3 will hopefully have us ready for our conference opener next Saturday.” The Lady Bears (14-3) are set to open conference play on March 7 with a doubleheader against Mississippi Delta in Moorhead.
