Jones beats Holmes 67-52 to extend MACCC winning streak to four
GOODMAN, Miss. — Jones topped Holmes 67-52 Thursday night at Frank Branch Coliseum, extending its MACCC winning streak to four games.
The Bobcats led by eight at halftime and expanded their lead to 18 after three quarters. Jones improved to 16-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play. Holmes fell to 10-6 and 2-3 in the MACCC.
Three players combined for 54 of Jones’ 67 points. Lamarah Cleaves scored 20 points for the fifth time this season. Jakera Ducksworth and Sanyla Smith added 17 and 17 points, respectively. Larissa Hubbard pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds, marking her fifth double-digit rebounding effort this season.
The Bobcats shot 43% from the field, compared to 32% for Holmes. Both teams struggled at the free-throw line, with Jones going 11-for-21 and Holmes 9-for-23. Jones scored 18 points off 17 Bulldog turnovers.
